5th annual Russian Maslenitsa celebration

The Cleveland Russian Cultural Garden hosted its 5th annual Maslenitsa celebration at the Rockefeller Greenhouse.

Maslenitsa has its origins in both pagan and Christian traditions. In Slavic mythology, Maslenitsa is a celebration of the imminent end of the winter. It has been compared to Mardi Gras or Carnival.
The event was also a fund-raiser put on by the Russian Cultural Garden committee. The Russian Cultural Gardens is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization dedicated to promoting the Russian Heritage and Russian cultural influence in America. The Russian Cultural Garden has a prominent goal of building the Russian Cultural Garden as a part of the Cultural Gardens of Cleveland in the Rockefeller Park.

The event was full of music, games, shopping, auction and Russian food and drink.

16 year old sings Santa Lucia at Maslenitsa in Cleveland

16 year old Caprice Trifiro performed the Neapolitanian folk song Santa Lucia in the Rockefeller Greenhouse in Cleveland during the annual Maslenitsa celebration hosted by the Russian Cultural Garden.

Pianist and instructor is Olga Druzhinina from Olga’s Music Studio. She is the winner: American Protege 1st place, AAGDT 3rd place, eMuse 3rd place.

13 year old sings Funiculi-Funicula by Denza at Maslenitsa in Cleveland

13 year old Nicholas Oita performed Funiculi-Funicula by Denza in the Rockefeller Greenhouse in Cleveland during the annual Maslenitsa celebration hosted by the Russian Cultural Garden.  Pianist and instructor is Olga Druzhinina from Olga’s Music Studio.
Nicholas has been Olga’s student for student for about 1.5 years. He is the winner: Grand Prize Virtuoso London 1st place and Young Talent Special prize; American Protege 1st place; Little Mozart 2nd place.

11 year old Polina Kornyushenko performed Maslyana by Zlotnik   in the Rockefeller Greenhouse in Cleveland during the annual Maslenitsa celebration hosted by the Russian Cultural Garden. 

Pianist and instructor is Olga Druzhinina from Olga’s Music Studio. Polina has been Olga’s student for student for about 2.5 years. She is the winner: Grand Prize Virtuoso London Absolute winner 100/100; American Protege 1st prices   and Jury Favorite Award; Little Mozart 1st place, eMuse (Greece) 3rd place.
