Smoked sausages and polka music attracted a crowd of more than 1,200 to SNPJ Farm in Kirtland, Ohio, for the 14th Annual Slovenian Sausage Festival hosted by the National Cleveland-Style Polka Hall of Fame and Museum on a warm and sunny Wednesday, September 13, 2017.
Slovenian Consul General Jure Zmauc spoke at a farewell event at the Polka Hall of Fame. He is going back to Slovenia after 6 years in Cleveland and the US. He told a story of a Slovenian family who came to the US with no money and didn’t speak English. They were told to go to Cleveland where they were welcomed.
Joe Valencic, president of the National Cleveland-Style Polka Hall of Fame and Museum in Euclid Ohio, introduced Slovenian Consul General Jure Zmauc who is going back to Slovenia after 6 years in Cleveland and the US.
Marie Pivik led a Slovenian song at the farewell event at the Polka Hall of Fame for Slovenian Consul General Jure Zmauc who is going back to Slovenia after 6 years in Cleveland and the US. She chose the song Sem Fantic Z Zelenega Stajerja which roughly translates to ‘I’m the fellow from Stajerja’ and Consul Zmauc is from Stajerja.

This is the official, City of Cleveland approved, 70th annual One World Day in the Cleveland Cultural Gardens. The men were at the Polka Hall of Fame in Euclid, Ohio. #owd2015.
