The Cleveland Donauschwäbische Blaskapelle (brass band) played a polka at the celebration of the 99th year of the Cleveland Cultural Gardens. People gathered in the German Cultural Garden in Cleveland in front of the huge Goethe-Schiller statue. Band director Julie explained that the band also plays Czech, Slovenian and Hungarian songs as well as German and they are the house band at Lenau Park for the German Cultural Club. The Donauschwabens are a people that settled near the Danube River and later named Danube Swabians. The Danube Swabians continued to speak German and keep their German traditions alive.
